"Born the seventh son of a seventh son, he grew up the scion a line, known for their sorcerous prowess.
The young man was expected to succeed his father, the legendary Ambrus Khar, as the premier sorcerer in the Cinder Isles, yet every attempt to initiate the boy into the higher mysteries fell flat, and Horizon felt the harsh, paternal disappointment.
In Lathe, however, there are other options for a young man with a thirst for life.
With great delight, Vermillion Horizon took to participating in the infamous Blackblood Duels, fighting with esoteric poisons, materia and wyld-spawned substances coating the seven duelling blades. A sport of both cunning and swordsmanship.
He found passion in living in the moment of the fight, the rushing ticks of heartbeats can be heard, and it was the sweetest of music.
And bitterly, his father found that his son wasted his life!
One day, however, the youth heard a different music, and from atop the bone spires of the Lathe Behemoth, something was whispering his name.
Here, he spoke to the winds, and learned their ways, granting him insight into the ways of spell-working that had eluded him since birth, much to his father's disappointment.
He was now a sorcerer, like his father.
And Ambrus was pleased that his son had found his own path. But, when that very same father disappeared on a journey to confront a rival warlock, Vermillion Horizon spared no thought in embarking on the same journey.
His father, though they had their differences in outlook, was worth the risk.
And all the same, he could face the greatest enemy in his life. Ras Ozymandias, the Sorcerer-King.
But. In fairness, his longing for a fight was quelled when confronted by the might of the Sorcerer-King. Cities laid to waste. Entire kingdoms slaughtered.
All for ambition.
Now, the Stormseeker is slowly working his way to his enemy. One foe at a time.
For this martial ambition. The sheer determination to fight and the drive to excel against all odds, Vermillion Horizon has found his place as one of the Lightbringers.
Sol Invictus have bestowed his light upon him, and made him one of the Dawn Caste.
